NVG7 Series Night Vision Goggles

The ATN NVG7 Night Vision Goggles are night goggles but they also function at dusk and dawn with the light filtering lens caps on.

These are head and helmet mounted goggles built to ATN's rugged commercial specifications for a rugged, durable, yet lightweight goggle. 

  • Hand-held, head-mounted or helmet-mounted. The head mount assembly is included. Helmet mounts are optional.
  • Water and fog resistant
  • Use 1 CR123A type battery included.
  • Bright source protection shuts the device off if the light levels are too high. The on / off button will turn the device back on.
  • Automatic brightness control adjusts the brightness of the screen automatically.
  • Adjustable interpupillary distance which allows you to position each display in front of each eye.
  • Right and left ocular ( eye ) lens focal adjustments which allow you to focus the right display for your right eye and the left display for your left eye.
  • A front lens focal adjustment which allows you to focus the device on objects at distances from 1/4 meter to infinity.
  • Built in wide angle infrared illuminator with an illuminator on indicator in your field of view ( FOV ).
  • 1x magnification
  • One button on / off. Turn for the goggle, push / pull for the illuminator.
  • Soft case.
  • Manual.

The NVG7 series of goggles are built with your choice of 2nd generation or 3rd generation tubes.

If you want to mount a NVG7 on your MICH (Modular Integrated Communications Helmet) helmet then you will want the ATN's NVG7 MICH mount.

If you want to mount a NVG7 on your PASGT (Personal Armor System Ground Troop) helmet then you will want the ATN's NVG7 PASGT mount.

There is also a ATN's universal helmet mount for NVG7 series goggles.

Night vision and light levels.

  • Night vision requires some light (moonlight, starlight, etc.) to operate. The level of equipment performance depends upon the level of light.
  • Starlight and moonlight are reduced by clouds.
  • Starlight and moonlight are also reduced by trees and buildings and anything else which creates shadows. Night vision is less effective when viewing into shadows and other darkened areas.
  • Night vision is less effective when viewing through the rain, fog, sleet, snow or smoke. Night vision will not “see” through dense smoke.
  • With night vision you only see shades of green or shades of grey depending on the type of display.
  • As with any night vision device, you are always looking for contrasts and movement.

  • CGT
    • 45 - 54 lines per millimeter resolution.

    • The CGT type of Image Intensifier tubes are engineered for significantly enhanced performance over current 2nd generation IITs ( image intensifier tubes ). The CGT IIT is a Multi-Alkali compact 18mm format MCP Image intensifier. Highlights of the CGT specifications are typical SNR of 16-22 and resolution of 45-54 lp/mm. CGT IITs are sensitive in a wide spectral band and thus provide good contrast in all scene circumstances.
  • HPT
    • 55 - 72 lines per millimeter resolution.

    • The HPT tube is an upgrade of the CGT Generation tube. It is a Multi-Alkali compact 18mm format MCP Image Intensifier. The HPT tube increases sensitivity, resolution, Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), and the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF). These improvements produce an exceptional image clarity and brightness. Most HPT specifications typically are equivalent to standard 3rd generation.
  • 3
    • 64 lines per millimeter resolution.

    • By adding a sensitive chemical, gallium arsenide to the photocathode a brighter and sharper image has been achieved over 2nd generation units. An ion barrier film was also added to increase tube life. 3rd Gen. provides the user with good to excellent low light performance.
    • ATN's 3rd generation image intensifier tubes are of the highest quality. They have a micro channel plate, GaAs photocathode, and a completely self-contained integral high-voltage power supply. These 3rd Generation tubes provide a combined increase in resolution, signal to noise and photosensitivity over tubes with a multi-alkali photocathode. Generation 3 is the standard for the USA military.

These IITs are hand picked to provide the highest quality and specifications available in our 3rd Gen. line.     • ATN Night Vision units with the 3P designation use ITT Pinnacle™ Image Intensifier tubes. The industry leading ITT Pinnacle™ image tubes utilize a gated power supply providing truly outstanding performance in high-light or light-polluted areas, such as urban environments. The Pinnacle™ tube with gated power supply minimizes any “halo” effects. “Halo” is often associated with using night vision devices in an urban area where random street lights are often an issue with early Generation Night Vision devices. Night Vision units with Pinnacle™ tubes have a resolution of 64-72 lp/mm and a typical signal to noise ratio of 26. All Night Vision devices utilizing Pinnacle™ Image Intensifier tubes come with ITT data record sheet. Units with Pinnacle™ tubes are not available for export.
